Knit Crochet Blog Week Day Seven

Day Seven (Sunday 17th May): Your Time, Your Place. Where and how do you take time out to knit and/or crochet? Maybe you don’t take time out at all and instead have your needles twirling as you try to juggle a multitude of other tasks with no ‘spare’ time to think of. Maybe you enjoy nothing more than to crochet whilst winding down from a yoga session, chatting with some friends in a nearby cafĂ©.

My little poll in the sidebar didn't quite work yesterday.  Which is fine since that question was just a joke anyway.  Thank you to everyone who checked out my survey monkey poll.  Alrighty on to todays prompt.   Generally I knit after work.  I get myself settled down on my side of the couch, usually with a TV show going in the background and I craft to my hearts content until I have to go to bed.  If I have tasks to do around the apartment I make sure they're done before I sit down because once I get all situated I don't tend to get back up again.  I do make an attempt to keep what I'm working on organized and out of the way,  but now with our smaller apartments my things have migrated and are taking over the side of the couch... and behind it actually.  Its nice though to have what I need just an arms length away.  I also have to stay on top of keeping it tidy because my side of the couch is right by the hallway back to the bedrooms, so if I don't keep it tidy it'll be a tripping hazard.

Its a mess, I know.  I need to weave in ends on a few things and get them put away properly.  I'm not sure how the pattern laying behind the couch got there, but I need to put that with the other pages and I need to clean out that green bag.  There are several dishcloths and a hat buried in that one.  It works though, so that's something.  The cats have been leaving it alone, which is a huge plus.

Well, this week has been fun.  I've enjoyed reading everyone else's responses to these prompts.  Hopefully mine were somewhat interesting.  I've found at least one new blog to follow, yea.  Until later.  Happy Crafting!

YOP: Week 36

I didn't get any crafting done this week.  I did receive my swap package from the My Favorite Things swap.  Here's what I received: An ample stack of fabric squares.  Most are knitting related, the rest coordinate well.  A book that looks interesting, The Vampire Knitting Club, one of my favorite candies, a skein of Alpaca yarn in a glorious color and cat chair feet.  My daughter commandeered a couple of them already.  I'm going to put a set on the clothes chair in the bedroom.  All in all it was a fun swap.  I also signed up for the Halloween Mini and got my partner assignment.  I've got some ideas brewing for that one.      Since my knitting mojo still hasn't returned despite the change in weather, I picked up a book (kindle) series instead.  About two years ago I read an excellent science fiction romance; The Viridian Priestess.  I know I talked about it.  It was my favorite boo...

YOP: Week 34

I did some crafting this week, but it was all for the swap.  I was nearly out of interfacing so I ran over to The Quilt Shop in Watertown.  I'd been there once a couple of years ago and thought their prices were very good considering they are independent and Joanne and Hobby Lobby were both in Watertown at the time.  They have really expanded and have a tremendous selection.  They have more novelty type fabrics now, which is what I prefer for my bags, so I will be going there much more often.... probably too much.  I got interfacing and I found two prints that were perfect for my swapee.  I really wasn't expecting to find what I did.  I sewed a bag with those two prints and two of the fabrics I picked up from Walmart.  The Walmart fabric was acceptable.  Not groundbreaking, but decent enough that if I find cute prints I'll probably grab them.  I finished the handknit earlier today.  I want to steam block it yet, ...

YOP: Week 52

As the year comes to a close, I've been looking at my queue and starting to plan out a few projects for 2025.  After having to cold sheep for the majority of this past year, I'm going into next year with some guidelines.  When I purchase yarn, I really want to stick to purchasing for specific patterns.  I took advantage of Miss Babs annual gratitude sale and purchased specifically for two patterns.  I also want to continue to knit from stash whenever possible.  I have paired up yarn with patterns for several and they've been moved up in my queue.     I'll have more time, so I plan to participate in several swaps in 2025.  I'll be getting yarn from these so I'm going to try to stick to swaps only for "unplanned" stash acquisition.  I have several carry-over projects I didn't get to this year, which seems to be a theme every year.  So tentatively this is my meager list for 2025: - Butterfly--Papillon  with Urth Ya...
