I didn't have a very eventful crafting week. My time was limited and I think the weather is affecting my knitting mojo. I had to work last weekend so my husband picked up the items from the fair along with the help of our daughter. It looks as though she was supposed to get a first place ribbon for her earrings but they forgot to attach the ribbon, or it was attached and fell off. I'll get an official notification in the mail with our winnings in a few weeks.
My garden was looking really good, the peppers and carrots had almost completely regrown. I made the comment to myself Saturday evening when I was watering everything that "oh wow its all looking really good." My parents came over for lunch Sunday so I took my mom over to see the garden. We've been busy so they haven't been over since we put in the raised beds. Well, the joke was on me. The deer or whatever it is came back and decimated the peppers and carrots again. Ugh. We had left the four-wheeler under the maple tree instead of right beside the raised beds for one night. On an upside; the lettuce and peas I planted a week ago have both come up and as of right now are doing well.
Yesterday, instead of blogging, I started working on the tote bag for my co-worker. I could have finished it last night but I've ordered some custom tags to put in my sewing. I'm waiting til they arrive to finish the bag. But here's a peak:
I'm making some modifications to the pattern. I did a welt pocket on the inside and I made the sectioned pocket larger to hold pens instead of needles since Nancy doesn't fiber craft. I'm quite happy with how the welt pocket came out. This used up my alpaca fabric almost completely, I have some small scraps left. I need to find a new place to get cute fabric prints.
The end of last week was crazy. We had a "surprise" inspection from Joint Commission. It was routine as we were within our window. The notification was sent but never made it to the lab so we had no idea and had to scramble to prepare everything they wanted to look at. Overall we did well, with some minor infractions, a couple of which we were able to correct during the inspection. That's it from me, until later, happy crafting.

I'm groaning imagining finding the deer having decimated your peppers and carrots again. My nemesis was bunnies in the spring, but it appears they've finally decided to leave my green bean plants alone. Love the bag! And the alpaca fabric. :)
ReplyDeleteNaughty deer. I am dealing with squirrels that keep eating my flowering plants. Grrrr. Your sewn bags look amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour fbaric is so cute. I'm sure your mojo will return soon. Happy Birthday!

DeleteThank you for the Birthday Wish.
DeleteUgh. And now you know why my hubby gave up gardening in our yard. Now we only do deck pots and still some critters get to the tomatoes before we do!! Congrats on all your fair wins!
ReplyDeleteI am so lucky I only have to worry about slugs, snails and caterpillars munching mine...they certainly munch things slower than a deer would. LOVE the combination of fabrics you've selected for the bag. Liz (highlandheffalump)
