I haven't made any more progress on my Killer Queen Cowl. I put that to the side so I could make progress on Get a Shift On! I've made quite a bit of progress. I'm on the last contrasting color now, then its into the fade portion. I can't find my scale so I wasn't able to measure my scraps before starting. I don't know if I'll have enough of each color for the fade portion... so this may get interesting very soon. The stripes didn't take very much so I'll have left over left overs from this. It's been really fun so far, so I see another in my future.
It took me a little bit to figure out my color order but this is what I've done so far. The MC is Eggplant. CC1 is Dewberry, CC2 is Abril, CC3 is Anniversario, CC4 is Solis, CC5 is Indiecita, CC6 Aguas and CC7 is Plomo. Its all Malabrigo Sock. I've been knitting this at a pretty tight gauge compared to the pattern. I don't care for sloppy garter stitch, even when its supposed to be lace and I intend this to be a scarf so I want it to be a little denser anyway. That's it on the knitting front, I haven't decided weather or not to do anything else, but March is only half over so I have plenty more time to cast on "all the things" as we say during Mal March.
This one turned out well despite the fact I haven't done anything with zippers in quite some time. The fabric on the inside of this bag was filled with cats that all looked a little unhinged. I ordered all this fabric online and it was hard to really see what the fabric would truly look like til I got it.
He's three months old, so still very much a kitten. He's been pretty fun already. The other cats are doing fairly well with the introduction. The first couple weeks are always rocky but its going well.

My swapee received her parcel so I can show off pictures of the two project bags I made for her.

I put pockets with snaps on both the inside and outside of this bag. I was really happy I could match up the pocket with the beige fabric on the "outside". I wasn't able to do that with the other pocket. I was really happy with how both these bags came out. My swapee seemed pretty chuffed with them as well so I'm calling the whole thing a success. I have a good amount of all these fabrics left over so there will be more cat bags in the works eventually as well. I also asked for the source of the pattern used to make the bag that was gifted to me. I have it favorited on my Etsy account. I want to make a few bags from that pattern as well. I'm using that bag for Get a Shift on because its large and holds the multiple skeins well.
In other news, we gained another addition to our crazy cat family. Meet Taco! (Ronon, the four year old, suggested the name and it stuck.)

We got quite a bit of rain yesterday after temps had been in the 60s for two days so nearly all the snow has melted. It's very muddy outside now, but I'm ready for it to be warmer. I enjoy snow and cold (that's why I live here) but it was plenty stormy for me this year. I'm ready for spring. That's it for me. Back to knitting.
Until later, happy crafting.

Taco is so cuteāa great name. Your shawl is looking wonderful, and I love the colours you're using.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the fabrics of your project bags. They will be so fun to use. Love your new kitty. I'm so looking forward to getting back home so my cat can join me when I knit. We will see how long it takes her to forgive me for being gone so long.
ReplyDeleteTaco looks very cute. I wish I was allowed to get a cat but with the parrot and my MIL I guess we have enough going on right now. I love the bags you made, the cat print material are both lovely. Liz (Highlandheffalump)
