I can't believe its been almost eight years since I last posted a blog. I'm still here and soooo much has happened in that time. Our daughter, Liara, was born at the end of February 2016. She was full term but small and is still dainty. She just finished 1st grade with flying colors. She asked if I could teach her to knit, so we've been slowly working on the basics.
Between my last few posts and now, we moved three times and finally bought a house of our own in May of 2021. We also had another child, a boy, in September of 2020, right smack in the middle of Covid. My pregnancy with Ronon was much easier in terms of morning sickness, but harder physically as there were 4 years in between. He was over a pound bigger, so I gained more weight. I also had to endure pregnancy through a summer, I do not recommend. I probably won't go into excessive detail about the pregnancies, but I will mention that I had c-sections for both children.
As far as crafting is concerned, not much has changed on that front. I slowly grew back my momentum as Liara got older, then once I got pregnant with Ronon it took a nose-dive again. I would say I'm now back up to pre-children levels of crafting. I bought a spinning wheel when we were living in Syracuse again. (We moved back for about two years.) I haven't done much with it other than tell myself I need to practice with it. It needs somethings to get into working condition and I just keep putting it off. I do more sewing now. I finally found a tutorial that made box style bags make sense to me, so I've made several for myself and others. I also found a tutorial on reversible drawstring bags that had dimensions for a large size. I just recently made a second one for myself as I use the first one I made quite often.
Box Style with Harry Potter Fabric
The Harry Potter bag was for a swap and I've made two of them out of this fabric combo. The drawstring pictured is the first one I made in this larger size. I've used the pattern as written to make some smaller sized ones as well. The larger size easily holds 6 or 7 skeins. I'm using the one pictured to hold a Find Your Fade. I've been working on it since January of this year and I'm so close to being finished. Sadly, I don't have a recent picture of that project. Large Drawstring
Find Your Fade
This pattern calls for 7 skeins of sock yarn. I'm actually working on the last section of this shawl now. This picture is from back in March. I would say this was about halfway through. Find Your Fade is a wonderful pattern by Andrea Mowery. It's fairly simple with sections of garter and simple lace. It may not be complicated but it's great for TV knitting.
I'm hoping that since I have more time at my disposal now I'll be able to keep up with the blog a little better.
Until later.
Happy Crafting
