Scythe & Sparrow

5 ⭐️ 2 🌶
I finished Scythe & Sparrow by Brynne Weaver Saturday.  It was a brilliant third installment and conclusion to this trilogy.  I highly enjoyed all three books.  I found this one to be more emotional or at least portions of it hit me harder than the other two books.  I think I enjoyed the second book the most out of the three but overall they were all very fun reads.  I especially enjoyed how all three intertwined.  Certain events were seen from the perspective of multiple characters that way.  All of the books were duel POV which I also particularly like.  The banter in all three of these books was top notch and I can get through almost any subject matter as long as there's banter and fun characters mixed into the gore.  I will be reading more Byrnne Weaver books in the future, I enjoy the way she writes and the characters she develops.

I signed up for a couple ARCs a week or two ago and forgot about it completely.  Saturday I received an email stating I had been chosen to receive Until I Die by Deidra Duncan.  I started the book last evening and read 52% of it in one sitting til the wee hours of the morning.  I was hooked at about page two.  I'm not sure I can put into words the grip this book has on me.  It's a gritty dystopian romance with true enemies to lovers.  It's set in what could be the near future and has major Handmaid's Tale vibes.  It's giving me Viridian Priestess vibes with this very dangerous MMC.  I can't stop thinking about this story and these characters.  More on this one when I finish it.  It has potential to be my favorite 2025 book and a six star read.  Happy reading.

YOP: Week 36

I didn't get any crafting done this week.  I did receive my swap package from the My Favorite Things swap.  Here's what I received: An ample stack of fabric squares.  Most are knitting related, the rest coordinate well.  A book that looks interesting, The Vampire Knitting Club, one of my favorite candies, a skein of Alpaca yarn in a glorious color and cat chair feet.  My daughter commandeered a couple of them already.  I'm going to put a set on the clothes chair in the bedroom.  All in all it was a fun swap.  I also signed up for the Halloween Mini and got my partner assignment.  I've got some ideas brewing for that one.      Since my knitting mojo still hasn't returned despite the change in weather, I picked up a book (kindle) series instead.  About two years ago I read an excellent science fiction romance; The Viridian Priestess.  I know I talked about it.  It was my favorite boo...

YOP: Week 34

I did some crafting this week, but it was all for the swap.  I was nearly out of interfacing so I ran over to The Quilt Shop in Watertown.  I'd been there once a couple of years ago and thought their prices were very good considering they are independent and Joanne and Hobby Lobby were both in Watertown at the time.  They have really expanded and have a tremendous selection.  They have more novelty type fabrics now, which is what I prefer for my bags, so I will be going there much more often.... probably too much.  I got interfacing and I found two prints that were perfect for my swapee.  I really wasn't expecting to find what I did.  I sewed a bag with those two prints and two of the fabrics I picked up from Walmart.  The Walmart fabric was acceptable.  Not groundbreaking, but decent enough that if I find cute prints I'll probably grab them.  I finished the handknit earlier today.  I want to steam block it yet, ...

YOP: Week 52

As the year comes to a close, I've been looking at my queue and starting to plan out a few projects for 2025.  After having to cold sheep for the majority of this past year, I'm going into next year with some guidelines.  When I purchase yarn, I really want to stick to purchasing for specific patterns.  I took advantage of Miss Babs annual gratitude sale and purchased specifically for two patterns.  I also want to continue to knit from stash whenever possible.  I have paired up yarn with patterns for several and they've been moved up in my queue.     I'll have more time, so I plan to participate in several swaps in 2025.  I'll be getting yarn from these so I'm going to try to stick to swaps only for "unplanned" stash acquisition.  I have several carry-over projects I didn't get to this year, which seems to be a theme every year.  So tentatively this is my meager list for 2025: - Butterfly--Papillon  with Urth Ya...
