Year of Projects: Week 14

     I didn't do a ton of crafting this past week, but I did some.  I finished up the knitting on the second pair of Drops of Spring Mitts.  I still want to wash and block them.
I want to do one more pair with Indiecita, Whales Road and Solis.  I don't think I have enough Whales Road to do both mittens so I may have to buy a new skein.... oh what a terrible prospect.  Ha ha.  I finished these off because I needed the size 6 needles for the swap project.  I'm about halfway done with that project now.  That's all the knitting I've done this week.  
     Today I went through Liara's clothes and sorted out all the too small stuff.  Well, not all of it as some things needed to go through the laundry.  I took three totes of clothes and shoes over to my aunts house today.  She'll be going down to visit her oldest daughter who has two daughters younger than Liara.  They get all her hand me downs.  While I was sorting clothes I also put away the summer stuff.  I need to go through Ronon's clothes and pass some things on of his too.  I just went through his a few months ago, but he's growing faster at this point.  On my way back, I stopped at Walmart and looked at fabric.  I don't usually get fabric at Walmart, but I needed to pick up more yarn for the dishtowel and some shampoo.  To be fair, that particular Walmart has a total crap selection of craft stuff and I knew that going in, but wow.  They had absolutely no halloween fabric at all.  They had a few Jack Skellington prints in the liscenced Disney section and that was all.  So, I'll have to wait til I can get to Joann Fabric to get some halloween prints.  
     It was already dusk when I got back to my house or I would have taken a picture.  The trees have really changed in the last week and on my road especially it was very pretty.  If I remember I'll get a picture tomorrow of our brightest trees.  We have two that have gone very bright red and I think they are and quite pretty.  That's it from me this week.  Neropolis has started back up again and I'll be plugging away at my swap.

    The mitts are so cute. Perfect for October. I love Hobby Lobby for my crafting and fabrics. Hope you find something you like.

      All three colors are Malabrigo Rios. The Sunset (yellow) I bought through a Ravelry Destash. The Vaa (green) is actually three different skeins. Two I had gotten at one of my local yarn shops, the third I bought from Webs. The Piedras (brown multicolored) is frommthat same local yarn shop.

    Lovely looking mitts. Very autumn looking. Oh, going through kids closets is a chore for sure. SO nice to have someone to pass the clothing down too.

YOP: Week 29

    The fair was a success.  My items did well and Liara got some ribbons as well.  We went to the parade on Tuesday, then down to the grounds once it was over.  We stopped by one local vender to grab some jewelry, grabbed some donuts from the Donut Diner then went to see how we placed.  Liara entered earrings that she hand-made with clay.  They did not place.  She entered a beaded bracelet that got first. She also entered three of her drawings.  A Pegasus, a bunny and a magical worm.  The bunny and the worm received third and the Pegasus received second.   The bunny is my personal favorite of all the drawings she's done.  There is always a really good turn out in the drawing and photography categories, so she was up against some stiff competition.  I'm really happy she received some ribbons. YOP: Week 30

      I didn't have a very eventful crafting week.  My time was limited and I think the weather is affecting my knitting mojo.  I had to work last weekend so my husband picked up the items from the fair along with the help of our daughter.  It looks as though she was supposed to get a first place ribbon for her earrings but they forgot to attach the ribbon, or it was attached and fell off.  I'll get an official notification in the mail with our winnings in a few weeks.       My garden was looking really good, the peppers and carrots had almost completely regrown.  I made the comment to myself Saturday evening when I was watering everything that "oh wow its all looking really good."  My parents came over for lunch Sunday so I took my mom over to see the garden.  We've been busy so they haven't been over since we put in the raised beds.  Well, the joke was on me.  The deer or whatever it is came back and decim...

YOP: Week 35

    Not much to report this week.  I didn't do much crafting.  I finished the swap, got it packaged up and mailed out.  It should have arrived to my recipient yesterday.  I'll share what I made.  The theme was Favorite Things.  She likes the colors pale yellow and deep dark red and dragons, so I went all out with the dragons.  I chose  Dragon Scale Mitts  for the handmade item.  I used Madeline Tosh Sport in the Tart colorway.   My camera doesn't really do this colorway justice.  It has more depth in real life.  I think they came out nicely though. I was able to find dragon fabric at The Quilt Shop.  I made a reversible project bag. I paired each dragon fabric with one of her favorite colors.  Liara really liked the dragon fabric as well.  I'm probably going to get some more when I go again.  I also sent some stationary items and a bunch of Swedish Fish, which were also things she had req...
